EVE Search - Amarr T1 and Navy BS fits for PvE (2)

Hi there,
I got bitten by the Laser bug and I really want to play with Amarr ships. To that end, I went through all available resources and tried out many fits on EFT but even with all skills set to V, the estimated dps is nowhere near what people post in fourms - some have stated having dps anywhere from 800 to over 1100. This is the cause of my confusion.

Can someone please post some fits for PvE L4 missioning Amarr BS? The urge to melt pirates is getting hard to resist!! :)

My skills are : http://eveboard.com/pilot/Aya_Silverye

You don't have the specialization skills for large pulses or beams, surgical strike 5, or rapid firing 5. The missing percentages add up quickly!

Anyway, people post all kinds of stuff on forums, and get all kinds of "final" DPS numbers. To guess where numbers from 800 to 1100 come from...

An Abaddon with a rack of T2 Mega Pulse, three T2 Heat Sinks and Multifreq is close to 800 DPS.
Upgrade to Imperial Navy Multifreq, and you're around 900 DPS.
Upgrade the T2 HS to navy, and you're more than halfway to 1000 DPS.
Then switch from Multifreq to Conflag, and you're creeping up on 1100 DPS.
Add a Large T2 Burst Aerator rig, and you're close to 1200 DPS.

Then, some count drones. This might be around 150 DPS from Hammerheads, or around 100 from Hobgoblins.

Abaddon is probably the best choice for close range ship.

This is what works for me when I go sniper way:
[Armageddon Navy Issue, my Armageddon Navy Issue]
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Drone Damage Amplifier II
Large Armor Repairer II
Damage Control II
Drone Damage Amplifier II

Sensor Booster II, Targeting Range Script
Large Micro Jump Drive
Cap Recharger II
Omnidirectional Tracking Link II, Optimal Range Script

Tachyon Modulated Energy Beam I, Imperial Navy Multifrequency L
Tachyon Modulated Energy Beam I, Imperial Navy Multifrequency L
Tachyon Modulated Energy Beam I, Imperial Navy Multifrequency L
Tachyon Modulated Energy Beam I, Imperial Navy Multifrequency L
Tachyon Modulated Energy Beam I, Imperial Navy Multifrequency L
Tachyon Modulated Energy Beam I, Imperial Navy Multifrequency L
Drone Link Augmentor II
Drone Link Augmentor II

Large Processor Overclocking Unit I
Large Capacitor Control Circuit I
Large Capacitor Control Circuit I

Garde II x5
Hammerhead II x 5
Hobgoblin II x 5

But I am really low in skills, so with your skills it may be better. For me it is 860 DPS at 32 km but I usually snipe from 100 to 40 km with bouncers or wardens, so real DPS is like a half of that most of the time. What sentry drones to take with depends on damage type I need to apply in the mission.

I don't encourage you to go for Amarr if you intend to PVE unless in very specific circ*mstances, of which lvl4 missions are not.
In fact I don't encourage you to train Amarr at all for a first race.

Reason being high skill requirements and NPC resistances that will ruin your effective DPS.

Long story short: you will be stuck to Amarr space, the BR/Sansha (Npc that are weak to your laser) Tracking Disruptor and Energy Neutraliser will f*** you up and you will struggle against Gurristas, Angel and Minmatar Navy.

Apoc has always been considered the most friendly Amarr BS to start with. It gets a lot of range out of its hull bonus, and combined with Scorch and pulse, can give you great dps over a large spectrum of ranges. BTW, Scorch is the reason why this works. Without scorch, you're left in a similar place to a rokh, where you can use high damage ammo from quite far, but you have nothing more once things get closer. Scorch gives you good damage (slightly lower than high damage crystals with Beams) and once things close up you can switch to Multifrequency for a sizable increase in dps (and tracking).

As such, I'd train T2 pulse asap, and use a beam setup until then. It'll be somewhat slow, but it'll get the job done a hell of a lot better than using T1 pulses.

If you can micromanage your ship at all (IE not semi afk mission running) use a cap booster and no CCCs or other cap mods. That'll allow you to fit more damage and tank mods and get more out of the ship (and it won't take you an hour to finish a mission)

On a nightmare (which gets the same DPS as an abaddon, but with better tracking and a better cap/less crystal wear for meta>0 crystals), with all gunnery skills to V (except the spec to IV), the BS skill to 5, 6% surgical strike implan, 6% large energy turrent implant, 4x navy heatsinks, a t2 burst aerator, gleam ammo, and 2x garde2s and 3x light drones, IIRC its over 1300 and approaching 1400 DPS.

2x 6% damage implants will increase your DPS between 12.36% to 13.17% (depending on if you go for ROF or damage)

To a base DPS of say... 800 DPS, those implants alone increase DPS by over 100 DPS (just simple 5% damage implants will boost it by just over 80 DPS), and of course, drones easily get you at least 150 more DPS.

A burst aerator rig will always be first in the stacking (ie, its never stacking penalized, but the next heat sink is), so you basically trade a 10.5% ROF bonus from a heat sink for a 15% ROF bonus from the aerator + the % ROF bonus from an nth stacking penalized heat sink, which basically translates into another 6% bonus.

So simply 2x 6% implants and a burst aerator II gets you about 20% more DPS from your laserz.

On an abaddon or navy geddon, this should easily get you over 1000 laser DPS when combined with a few heat sinks

PS: stop training combat drone operation V now.... it is now a waste of SP -when the next expansion hits, it will be redundant with scout drone operation (which you already have to V) for determining the level new skills that will be replacig the current ones.

Hu? Everyone is going to get the new skills at whatever level they had combat drone operation at. So training it to V before the expansion is a really good idea.EVE Search - Amarr T1 and Navy BS fits for PvE (33)

Wow, a lot of replies :). I am not training Amarr as my first race. I am Caldari and I am trained to use missiles. I have trained almost all core/support skills I can think of. I wanted to learn lasers to operate in Amarr space as that is where I want to be for now.

For skills, I intend to train the laser specializations (only 50 minutes each) and I am earning LP towards the Navy Heat Sinks. Are there any missions or plexes where it's possible to get the damage implants?

NOTE: In the Devblog it's explicitly given that only Combat Drone Operation level is counted. My corpmates checked it out and re-posted it with highlights as that is the only skill being affected. The other skills are being renamed to suit their functions.

P.S.: Thanks for the fits.

Regarding using your own LP for heat sinks, I would say don't do it. You can most likely get a better deal just buying them and using your LP to sell stuff yourself which have a better ratio. Same deal with implants. Use 3% implants first, and see how you enjoy the lazoring, and upgrade to 5% if you really like it. 3% implants are about 20 millions each, while 5% are 150. The difference is significant in terms of effectiveness, but if you end up not really enjoying yourself, that's a lot of money down the drain.

it should also be noted that there is a unique (and highly overpriced) implant that pushes laser damage.

Yeah, I just checked out the LP/isk ratio and what you said is right. I will buy the Navy Heat Sinks and 3% implants and see where it leads.

P.S.: If you say overpriced in EVE, I am really afraid to think of how many zeroes we have to add to the Bill! Just curious, what is the name of this implant?

pashan, gives 7% bonus to laser turrets damage, costs over 3 bil, don't buy it. a 6% costs 500mil if you have to. you can get a large laser turret damage for slot 10 and rate of fire for slot 9

They've done a bad job of keeping it updated:

Sorry for the delay in answering some of the skill questions guys.

As many of you have suggested, we'll be giving pilots the same level in both Light Drone Operation and Medium Drone Operation as the highest level they have in either Scout Drone Operation or Combat Drone Operation over the patch downtime.

The Light Drone Operation skill will be rank 1, the Medium Drone Operation skill will be rank 2.

This was to prevent people that could use T2 drones with scout drone at V from being unable to use them psot patch.
