It's been almost 2 years since the last time I ran a Level 4 mission. Due to recent boredoms, I've decided to come back to my Caldari Navy Level 4s. I'd like to take an armor tanked ship into these missions, but, all of my recent knowledge is PvP based. As such, I'm hoping some of you can share Armor Tanked Level 4 Fits.
Any ship is fine, so long as it's an armor tank. There are no restrictions on ship types as I have sufficient skills to fly all non-capital combat ships in the game.

Best armor for level 4s is probably the Domi. Got a fit but not the time to look it up right now.
BattleClinic should point you roughly in the right directions though

Also, not so good in Caldari space due to damage types. Dominix might be the best option.
But OP, why armor only?

Because I know very well how to do it with shields and it's boring as snot. I'd prefer to change it up and see what else I can do.

Domis do a good armor tank. Somewhat less paper DPS than the shield fits, but more tracking and the possibility of an AB.
The Vindicator works well too. And the Kronos probably doesn't suck.

if you want to change it up, try running lvl4s in an assault frigate.
edit: the kronos isn't BAD bad but compared to the vindicator it's still bad.

Any armor fit with an active rep will work. Buffer tanking just does not work well for missions. Once your tank is burned through, which happens fast when facing 6-8 battleships, you need to warp off if you don't have a rep.
The main reason armor fits are not popular in missions is the armor tank uses the low slots leaving less space for damage mods. in missions the higher your DPS the faster your completion times. At the same time though you need to actually be able to apply that DPS. So using an active armor tank and loading the mids with target painters and tracking boosters can work well.
Basic rule of thumb is much like a shield tank fit. I never use plates, just rat specific resists and a local rep. Just like a shield fit faction and deadspace mods can give you more tank in less slots allowing for more DPS mods.
I really enjoy flying missions in a typhoon. a lot of micro management with three weapon systems to keep track of. I usually fit 4 guns, 4 launchers, and a flight of T2 sentry drones. Can do over 1000 DPS without gimping the tank to much. Best use of rigs in to either pug resist holes, or increasing the rep amounts. Either way can free up some low slots for damage mods.
My most recent fit for a typhoon mission runner is actually a shield fit but lots of fun. Hard to fit a good enough shield tank on it, but using the rigs for resists, a DED X-large booster or X-large ASB and a couple rat specific resists seem to do the trick. This leaves all the low slots for damage mods. Since you have 3 weapon systems the stacking penalties is not to bad. I get almost 1300 DPS with my fit. And it is not boring to fly as the shield tank is barely adequate and needs to be well controlled. Combined with the mirco management of three weapon systems it is a lot of fun to fly and has very fast completion times if flown well.

I'm not happy with it yet, but it can get you started. It has less DPS than a shield fit, but the 2 omni's give you a better damage projection, which should make up for that. It can fit a propulsion mod at the cost of cap.

well, it has about the same dps as a maelstrom, with better projection but worse tracking. it isn't bad in general but it is certainly bad with regard to its price tag.

It's also going to suck donkey balls against Guristas -- just like all Marauders.
The more I think about the OP's actual question, the more I'm thinking NDomi is the way to go.

Can't comment on Mael but you've started comparing Kronos to Vindicator. In this regard, Kronos is much easier to fit and fly and doesn't require ubershiny modules for that (someone's talking about price tag?). Yes, performs worse but is much more versatile. And that said, the performance difference isn't such dramatic.

I find the domi somewhat boring. 425mm rail Kronos and rail proteus do just fine. When I want to mess around a bit more, I'll pull out a blaster deimos. The cruisers rely on speed tank where I can permarun the AB and MAR. Kronos is really easy to fit. Basic fitting "rules" suffice in all cases.

I can't even begin to say how terrible this advice is... Don't use ASBs for missions! When you've tanked all you can with it you either have to reload (1 minute without reps) or use up almost all your cap on a few boosts.
It can probably be used, but you shouldn't use it unless you
know that you can remove the dps fast enough to not die in the reload.Yosh*te McLulzypants

Navy domi is teh sex but it's unsightly to be seen without 6 dda/magstabs ie: shield tanked.
I mean really if you are insisting on armor fit just because.. and dont care about cost etc then vindicator, 4 magstabs and 3 slot tank should be fine. Or 4 slot tank if you want to be a ***** about it. PVE is ~hard~~~

At work currently so can't access my fits, but I'm doing caldari lvl 4 missions in an armor fit Legion that can take a hell of a pounding, and do 600 dps.
I've tagged this, and will add my fit later if you want
